Why People Don’t Volunteer and Why They Should
Research shows that more than 90 percent of us say we want to volunteer, but only 25 percent of us actually do. Before we go into a few reasons that people don’t volunteer, let’s go over a few benefits for people that do. Research shows that volunteers report:
· Elevated mood and less depression
· Increased social interactions and social support
· Better relationship quality
· Decreased loneliness.
